Single dwelling, Thornmanby woods, Howth.

Mesh Architects were engaged by our clients to deal with a previous Architects design that resulted from a request for further information from the Planning Authority. It was at this time that our clients decided that the previous Architects design would be not fitting for their family, within their budget, heat efficient or was a sensitive design within the setting of this site.
Mesh Architects designed a 5 bedroom new dwelling of 230m.sq gross floor area which reflected our client design wishes for a more traditional vernacular architectural language. The new deign was well received by the local Planning Authority and adjoining buildings
Our design incorporated efficient construction methods and the dwelling was constructed using traditional timber frame construction with rendered block outer leaf and finished with a slated roof. This meant that the dwelling is highly insulated andthe project incorporates a rainwater harvesting tank for grey water recycling and heat recovery system. The new design allows the main living spaces to be on the south facing orientation ensuring natural light and the internal circulation spaces are located on the North side. Large sliding doors face onto a large lawn family garden.
